Sun System I Switchable remote ballasts allow you to use either a Metal Halide or a High Pressure Sodium bulb in the same ballast. Use a Metal Halide bulb when the plants are actively growing, and then flip the switch and put in a High Pressure Sodium bulb for the fruiting/flowering stage. Remote Ballast systems are ideal because they allow you to move the ballast to a seperate area from your plants (better heat dissipation), and it keeps the weight of the ballast out of the reflector.
